Our Friends At ThreeSpot Win a Weeby

October 5, 2022

I can't help but feel a sense of pride when you see good work being done by good people get rewarded. And that's precisely the feeling I had when it was announced that friends and clients at Threespot have won a Webby Award for their work on the 1619 Education project!

The 1619 Project has had an incredible impact on me as a Black person, as a founder and researcher, and completely rethinking how we tell stories of oppression.
If you are not familiar with the 1619 Education Project, the 1619 Project is a social impact initiative that develops programs for K12 Classrooms, out-of-school time programs, and higher education programs. The project's goal is to provide resources and opportunities for students to learn about the history and effects of slavery in the United States.

This past year, SLCO has been working with ThreeSpot, helping them dive deeper into their own diversity, inclusion, and belonging work through workshops. At first, virtually, then in person for the annual company retreat in Virginia. A 90-minute workshop became a 2 and 1/2 hour workshop, not through my own merit but the whole team's willingness to dive deeper into conversations around power, race, and work culture.
We are so proud of the work that Threespot is doing to create social change through their work.

We can't wait to see what you do next.
